The right autogate system depends on your gate, your driveway and how the gate is used every day. A few questions narrow the choice quickly.
Sliding or swing?
Sliding gates suit short or sloping driveways because the gate moves along the boundary instead of into the porch. Swing gates work well where there is enough clear space for the leaves to open, and they are a natural fit for many traditional gate designs.
Gate size and weight
Every operator is rated for a maximum gate weight or leaf length. Choosing a motor with comfortable headroom means it runs cooler and lasts longer than one working at its limit.
How often the gate is used
A family home might open the gate a handful of times a day; a shared driveway or commercial site may open it dozens of times. Higher-usage sites need operators with a heavier duty cycle.
Look and installation
Arm openers, linear rams and ground-mounted motors each change how the gate looks. Underground systems keep the gate’s appearance unchanged, while surface-mounted kits are simpler to install and maintain.
Power cuts and safety
Check for manual release, optional battery backup, photocells and obstacle detection. These features make the gate safer and easier to live with.
